A Dialogue Between A Father And His Son, On Report From The Headmaster.
Father: Come here, dear; I want to have a little talk with you.
Son: What is it, father?
F: I have just got your headmaster's report about you: and I
am sorry to say that it is a bad one. What have you got to
say for yourself?
S: I don't know. The headmaster always has a spite against
me.
F: That is nonsense. I know Mr. Masood. he is a kind and
just man. If you have got into his bad books, it is your own fault.
S: What does he say?
F: Well, he sends me the result of your terminal examination;
and you have failed in nearly every subject. Now I know you are not a stupid boy- you have brains, if you like to use them; so your failure means you have been thoroughly
idle.
S: The examination was very stiff.
F: You ought to be ashamed of yourself! I sent you to school
to learn, not to idle about and amuse yourself. I am very
disappointed with your.
S: I am sorry, father. I know I have been lazy.
F: Well, settle down to hard work.
S: I will really try, father, and I promise you will have a better
report next time.
