Cinema has become one of the most popular sources of entertainment and enlightenment today: people often talk about film stars and their achievements. The young wants to have the latest knowledge about the film world. The strength of regular cinema- goers is increasing at a rapid pace. This has also increased the sale of film-magazines and other related weeklies.

Cinema has a great educative value. A student can acquire permanent knowledge about a certain thing, if he is able to read as well as to see that thing. Knowledge, thus acquired, will read so many things but when we are able to see those very things on the screen, they are imprinted on their minds.

In the Cinema hall, we get knowledge of foreign countries even if we do not have time or money to visit them. We come to know about their ways of life, culture and tradition. Recently. a picture "Love in Canada" was released. This picture presents a very lovely and charming sight of Ottawa, the capital of Canada. On seeing the picture we can well understand how industrious these Canadians are. Although it is a small city, yet it is very skillfully and artistically designed. There is beautiful arrangement of under-ground roads.

Cinema also helps the students to learn History, Geography and Science. It teaches these dry subjects in a fascinating manner, that is. bv showing the films of different countries and thus even the youngster remember these incident then and there.

Cinema is our moral preacher and teacher. Every good film has a moral lesson to teach. The film like "Ghunghat" shows us the devotion of a wife to her husband and how she is able to conquer death. Film like "Abdullah" lighten (infuse) in us the spiritual values of martyrdom.

This is only the bright side of the picture. Now, let us turn our eyes to its dark aspects as well. Every rose has its thorn also. It is painful to note that now film industry has become a money making industry. Film producers worship money and pay scanty (little) attention to the ethical side of the picture. Modern pictures have polluted the minds of the young boys and girls. They easily fall a prey to modern fashions. They sing dirty and obscene songs.

The vulgar scenes have completely changed the outlook and character of the youngsters.
It is high time when the film industry woke up from its deep slumber and tried to discourage such films as sow the seeds of immoralit in the minds of younger generation. The kids of today are the administrators of tomorrow. So. care should be taken to infuse in them the spirit of sacrifice. hard-work. honesty, selfless service and good conduct. More emphasis should be laid on the discipline.

Films should be classified into different categories- instructive, social, moral, amusing and literary -- so that, people coming from every walks of life may have entertainment according to their taste.

In the end. we can say that cinema has a great educative and recreative value. And it is a cheap source of entertainment and it can do a lot of good to the people at large if both the producers and Government embark upon producing such films as may present moral and artistic ideals.
